Looking Forward To 2008

pgn-latest-news.jpg Happy new year everyone! 2007 has been a great year for PGN except for some downtimes that PGN experienced later in the year. Later this year the guy that works in Game Rail who I work with to update the servers left Game Rail and this has put me in a tight spot. The guy who used to work with Game Rail wasn't able to give me FTP access to the servers, without FTP access...I need someone inside Game Rail to update the server files for me. I asked Game Rail for a bridge between me, the servers and Game Rail however it looks like they're too busy still to provide me that bridge. They have also been discussing about not continuing the PGN servers because the guy who I used to talk too left Game Rail. I seriously hope they reconsider about the servers. I sincerely believe that it benefits both parties, the more the players that play in our servers the more they experienced Game Rail's benefits (Which will greatly increase once they subscribe to Game Rail's network).

pgn-latest-news.jpg PGN is having an event in one of its gun game servers and there's only one thing that you have to do, beat truK` #PGN's gun game score. And that means having a better Kill/Death ratio than his best record which is 70-2. However, truK` has set up several rules and guidelines for the challengers.

PGN Forum Is Back

pgn-latest-news.jpg The PGN Forum is probably what I can consider as PGN's first website. When we didn't have any dedicated server yet, I will usually sign up on one of those 'Free Forum' websites. I signed up at Informe (http://www.informe.com/), so if you don't have your own dedicated server to host your own websites, I suggest signing up for Informe's free phpbb2 forums - they might offer free phpbb3 forums in the future, who knows. So yeah anyway, the first PGN Forum was hosted by Informe and it was http://pgn.informe.com/. It was the PGN forum for one and a half years, served us well too.

New PGN Classic Server
Filed under: News, PGN Latest News
Posted on: Dec 09, 2007 05:53:01 AM

pgn-latest-news.jpg Even though there's a lot of CS 1.6 mods out there (Ex. Gun Game and Death Match) you'll always find yourself going back to what CS 1.6 is all about...classic game play. From rescuing hostages to preventing terrorists in planting the bomb plus the occasional job of protecting the VIP, that's what classic CS 1.6 is all about.

PGN already has a classic server located in Texas which is hosted by Game Rail. As most of you know Game Rail is still discussing if they're going to keep hosting the PGN servers. This is because the guy who gave me this sweet deal isn't working for Game Rail anymore. I hope that by next year (2008), they can finally make up their minds. It looks as though that it's going to be a NO from them and that they'll be dropping all the PGN servers under Game Rail. It's going to have a big impact in our community as this servers are located in Seattle, Texas, Chicago, and New York. So yeah...not a bright future for Game Rail hosted PGN servers. Which is why #PGN Classic 2 is born, there just have to be a PGN Classic server no matter. #PGN Classic 2 is what #PGN Classic should look like if ever Game Rail lets me update the Game Rail hosted PGN servers. New maps have been added, maps like cs_office and cs_italy can now be chosen when a vote map occurs. I have already edited all of them to support 32 players so you guys won't be getting the "All teams are full!" message when you try to join a team.

GG #1 And CSDM #1 Update
Filed under: News, PGN Latest News
Posted on: Dec 03, 2007 09:26:38 PM

pgn-latest-news.jpg Lately, the GG #1 and CSDM #1 aren't getting a lot of player traffic. I can think of two main reasons as to why it's like that. First is I am not able to update the Game Rail hosted servers (GG #2, GG #3, CSDM #2, And Classic). Come on Game Rail, I really need to send you the updated files. I can't update the server list on all the servers that you host - That's why you still see GG #1 and CSDM #1 as offline when you type /server in the Game Rail hosted servers. I already sent Kevin Soloria This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it an e-mail regarding this issue a few days ago. I haven't gotten a reply yet and I somehow feel that PGN is being ignored by Game Rail. I also talked to Thor This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it about this and the reply that I always get is that they are busy and somehow, Game Rail might stop hosting the PGN servers. I mean what's so hard about updating the servers? I already have the files for the Game Rail servers in my other server. It's on a 100mbit connection so uploading or downloading the updates isn't a problem. It's already been pre-configured too, all you have to do is overwrite the old files and that's it. Done. I am separating the servers under my server and the one's under Game Rail. That way I won't be experiencing this problem in the future. So when you type /server on a server under Game Rail, it will only show up the Game Rail servers and vice versa.

New PGN Hide N Seek Server
Filed under: News, PGN Latest News
Posted on: Nov 28, 2007 08:52:18 PM

pgn-latest-news.jpg There's a new Hide N' Seek server in the West Coast and it's brought to you by Pakers Gaming Network! This Hide N' Seek server (Also referred to as HNS) is based on OneEyed's plug-in in Allied Modders. If you don't know what HNS is, here's a brief description...CT's begin the round by being blinded for XX seconds, the only weapon that they will received is a knife, that's it nothing more. While this is happening on the CT side, T's begin the round by holding 3 kinds of grenade - 2 Flash Bangs, 1 HE Grenade, And 1 Frost Grenade. T's are not blind when they begin the round because they need to run and hide from the CT's using the default map layout with the added addition of blocks which are custom platforms that you can run and hide into. If the seekers (CT) can't kill all the hiders (T) then T's win. However if seekers win, players exchanged places and seekers become hiders while hiders become the seekers. The server is located in San Francisco, California.
