DreamkillerDreamkiller is a fantasy first-persion shooter game developed by Mindware Studios and published by Aspyr. Players take on the role of Alice Drake, a psychologist who has the ability to enter her patient's mind during their sleep and rid them of their nightmares.

Requirements

  • Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz or equivalent
  • 2GB RAM
  • 10GB HDD space
  • 512MB GeForce 8800GT or equivalent

Instillation

Installing Dreamkiller was pretty easy and since most computers now have more than 100GB of HDD space, 10GB is nothing unless you tend to populate your HDD's with useless stuff.

First Impressions

As with every single FPS that I've played, I always check the keyboard bindings to see what kinds of stuff I could do in-game and to my surprise, there is no crouch key! That's right! No crouch key! I'm pretty sure we're in 2009 and I'm not playing the very first Doom game. I mean no crouch key is just a big fail in my opinion. How am I supposed to interact with my environment then? Simply moving around and jumping around just doesn't cut it. I've only spent a couple of minutes looking at the control keys and I'm already disliking the game...hopefully the single-player experience makes up for it because no crouching multi-player means that multi-player's going to suck big time.

Singleplayer

I just want everyone to know that I wanted this game to shine, I mean come on! Your character is a badass chick that can manipulate people's dreams! The first couple of levels in single-player was all about getting used to not being able to crouch. And the more I play the game, the more I realized that all you have to do is blast away all the monsters that you see. When I mean blast away, I mean go out there...go crazy with your left-click mouse button and hope for the best. There's no strategy whatsoever involved unless you include going around the monsters in circles a strategy. I don't even get the feeling that if I am not careful, my character will die. Finishing the single-player mode in a day is no biggie and anyone can do it, that I guarantee.

Multiplayer

Aah multi-player...the saving grace of some games when their single-player sucks. You could play one of the following multi-player modes in Dreamkiller, Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Conquest, and Capture the Flag. There's an 8 player cap on each team so that means there's only a total of 16 slots per server. That sucks. 8v8 Deathmatch? Come on! I'm not really a fan of the less players the better. I'm more of a 32/32 or 64/64 type of player when it comes to multi-player games. The more the better! And I guess that's what most gamers want to since I did not find any decent server to play on. I tried going at 3AM, 12NN, and 8PM and I was only able to find 1-2 servers with around 2 players. It was a horrible experience.

Final Thoughts

I don't really have anyting to say about Dreamkiller, except that it is a total failure. I wouldn't even recommend this game to you guys. Save up your hard earned money to buy another game.

Ratings

5.gif Installer - At least Dreamkiller got a high rating here. Congratulations.

3.gif Graphics - Even with decent graphics...you need to stay away from Dreamkiller.

3.gif Sound - The same goes with this one. Even if it's decent, the gameplay totally kills the game.

0.gif Gameplay - Fail.
